New Years Eve is a time of both remembrance and celebration, and, of course, great music. Partygoers will want to ring in the New Year with an assortment of vibrant song selections.
The ultimate New Years Eve play list will include songs that are both vibrant and sentimental, fun and significant:
Auld Lang Syne by Kenny G
What Are You Doin’ New Years Eve? By Valerie Gillespie
Celebration by Kool and the Gang
All Night Long by Lionel Ritchie
Starry Eyed Surprise by Paul Oakenfield
Rock’n’Roll All Night by Kiss
Through the Years by Kenny Rogers
Memories by Elvis Presley
Dance the Night Away by Van Halen
Of course, no New Years Eve would be complete without a selection of New Years Eve party supplies. A rubber or paper mache facsimile of the famous Times Square ball would work well, especially if it drops to the ground via a preinstalled dancing pole. NYE party colors should be vibrant and glittery, and should include red, gold, silver and bright blue.
A scene setter that depicts a vibrant city skyline would make a nice backdrop for a New Years Eve festivity, and shiny ornament balls every color of the rainbow would make grand table settings at the party table.
Creative idea: Matching or contrasting color decor items such as plates and cups will work for any theme ideas. If you specify the type of clothing for a social event like summer causal, give a few examples of what is acceptable and more importantly what isn't. When all is said and done, favors given to those guests who were able to attend will both feel appreciated and be reminded of the day whenever they look at that favor.

New Years Eve homemade party supplies such as handmade banners, party streamers and balloons help many people say, “Happy New Year.” Homemade party supplies such as handmade signs or banners, balloon bouquets and homemade gift baskets are welcomed additions to a New Years Eve party. These handmade party supply items are beyond compare and creating a New Years Eve handmade gift basket, balloon bouquet or homemade party banner will only add to the occasion.
Homemade New Years Eve party banners are a great way of saying, “Happy New Year,” and making your New Years Eve celebration very special. For the most part, the New Years Eve party will only get better with other homemade party supplies such as drink umbrellas, party masks and glow sticks.
Making homemade drink umbrellas is very easy. Homemade drink umbrellas are made by using toothpicks, tissue paper and a soup can. Trace the bottom of the soup can to get the design for the umbrella topper. Then cut it out and fold it so it is cone shaped. Then at this point, attach it to the top of the toothpick using fabric glue. After these have dried they should be perfect for your New Years Eve party. These drink umbrellas can be designed and decorated numerous ways, but most importantly this handmade party supply will add a lot to the New Years Eve party.

Ring in the birth of a new year with New Years Eve birthday cake to celebrate the old and the new coming together. To make this cake there are some things to be acquired in the party supplies list that will need to be created during the planning process. The first of which will be a white cake mix and the needed ingredients according to the packaged directions on the box. Second will be white and blue icing to help decorated, along with a single white candle. Other options to include in the cake could include such things as the current date of this year and the new date of next year. Two additional items to be included in the party supplies list, a miniature of father time, who represents the years gone by and those to come. Plus a miniature of the baby new year, who is representative a symbol to the birth of a new year and is only seen around this time of year. Depending on the group, one option might be to write out new year’s resolutions on the cake in icing. Just as easily one could write the current year and then add, ‘three, two one.’

Staying up until midnight on New Year's Eve New Year’s Eve is a tried and true celebration. In fact, celebrating the New Year is the oldest of all holidays. It was first observed in ancient Babylon about 4000 years ago. In the years around 2000 BC, the Babylonian New Year began with the first New Moon (actually the first visible crescent) after the Vernal Equinox (first day of spring).
The beginning of spring is a logical time to start a new year, because it is a season of rebirth, of planting new crops, and of blossoming. January first, on the other hand, has no astronomical or agricultural significance. It is purely arbitrary.
The Babylonian New Year celebration lasted for eleven days. Each day had its own particular mode of celebration, but it is safe to say that modern New Year's Eve festivities pale in comparison. The Romans continued to observe the New Year in late March, but their calendar was continually tampered with by various emperors, so it soon became out of synchronization with the sun.
In order to set the calendar right, the Roman senate, in 153 BC, declared January 1 to be the beginning of the new year, but tampering continued until Julius Caesar, in 46 BC, established what has come to be known as the Julian Calendar. It again established January 1 as the New Year, but in order to synchronize the calendar with the sun, Caesar had to let the previous year go on for 445 days.
Although in the first centuries AD the Romans continued celebrating the New Year, the early Catholic Church condemned the festivities as paganism. As Christianity became more widespread, the early church began having its own religious observances concurrently with many of the pagan celebrations, and New Year's Day was no different. New Years is still observed as the Feast of Christ's Circumcision by some denominations. During the Middle Ages, the Church remained opposed to celebrating New Years, and January first has been celebrated as a holiday by Western nations, for only about the past four hundred years. Many people choose to celebrate New Year's Day with a nice brunch for family and friends.
