Olympics Costume
For major sports fans the Olympics is indeed a momentous event and what better way to commemorate the occasion than by throwing a costume party. This is a great way to celebrate the start or end of the Olympics and pay tribute to the exceptional athletes representing our country or for that matter just to rejoice the sportsman spirit of the games.
The Olympics as everyone knows originated way back in ancient Greece. So how about donning a toga for the occasion, the common attire of the ancient Greeks? This is an extremely simple costume to rustle up. All you need is to wear a loose fitting white T-shirt and wrap around you a long sheet of white fabric. Fashion a wreath from golden aluminum foil to wear on the head. This costume can be worn by either men or women and can give quite a striking and majestic look.
In further recognition of the Greek origins of the Olympics, you could also choose the costume of the strongest of their gods, Hercules. This costume is basically an armor in black leather accentuated with gold trimmings, which is to be worn on top of a white tunic. Make leather bands to wear around the wrists and on the upper arms and adorn it with metal studs. Make a similar head band as well. To finish off wrap a red shawl around the neck and accessorize with a sinister looking sword and leather footwear. This costume can have quite an authentic look making it seem as if you have stepped out straight from the ancient times.
