Handmade Olympics Pinatas

An Olympics theme birthday party calls for an Olympics style piñata. Children love a piñata for many reasons. 1) Children can smash something and not get grounded for it. 2) Children are rewarded for the efforts in candy and toy form. A piñata can only add to the excitement and joy of a party of any type really. making a piñata to look like the Olympics rings is very simple. Use five large balloons, cardboard, tape, glue sticks, and paper mache. Tape 3 balloons together for the top rings, tape two balloons together for the bottom rings and tape all together. Apply the paper mache to the balloons, let dry over night and apply another layer. Once the second layer is completed and dry, cut out a small hol in the bottom of the piñata, insert the candy, and apply more paper mache to the hole. Give the piñata one more layer and prick small holes in the piñata and pop the balloons.

To make the Olympic rings, either paint them on or use tissue paper. Use blue, black, red, yellow, and green colors. In the gaps of the rings use white tissue paper. Cover both sides of piñata in colored tissue paper for the Olympic rings. Use a glue stick to apply the tissue paper and a Olympic piñata is created. It is best to draw the rings out first on the piñata then apply the tissue paper over them. For perfect circles use an art protractor.
