One of the oldest and most time-honored festivities on today’s social scene, the pajama party is a virtual rite of American girlhood; a party that most definitely deserves some fun, age appropriate music. It just would not be a festivity without some danceable tunes.

The ultimate pajama party list will include songs that are danceable and age appropriate, as most guests will be very young. Do not play any hard metal or rough rap at this soiree. They could include:

Girls (Rule the World) by Beyonce. Girls will love singing and dancing along to this one.
Dreamin by Vanessa Williams
Party in the USA by Miley Cyrus. The ultimate festive anthem and perfect for this celebration.
I’m Just a Girl by No Doubt
BFF by Rebecca Black
What It Feels Like for a Girl by Madonna

Who Says by Selena Gomez. Gomez is a true role model for girls of this age.
Me Myself and Time by Demi Lovato Never Say Never by Justin Bieber (thus fulfilling the requisite for at least one Bieber song at every respectable pajama party?)
Aside from a rousing tune-filled playlist, party supplies in vibrant, kid-friendly designs are another big component of virtually any pajama party. These could include everything from ribbons and streamers in feminine colors like pink, red and lavender, cardboard cutouts of crowd pleasers like the Jonas Brothers and Justin Bieber, plus party supplies like cups, plates, bowls and napkins, which preferably will come in classic, adorable pajama-style prints like stripes and polka dots. Quick tip: Planning ahead is key to being prepared for any event as the hostess of the day. As you plan a menu for a celebration remember, there may be vegetarians and vegans on the guest list so plan accordingly. A blank wall is a canvas waiting to be decorated with your artistic related theme ideas.

Homemade party supplies and party goods for pajama parties are a great addition to the party. This is a true family oriented event that calls for a personal touch. Children of all ages, mainly little girls thoroughly enjoy a Pajama party and homemade party supplies add to this special event. In fact it simply would not be a gathering without them! Whether it is for a birthday party or just a general party with friends, homemade party supplies such as balloon bouquets, flags and personalized banners will only add to this party. These are the kind of fun tokens that kids just love. Handmade party supplies such as hats, placemats and feathered boas are perfect for this party.

Many little girls enjoy dressing up and the addition of homemade costume jewelry, hats and feathered boas will be a welcomed addition to the evening. Additional homemade party supplies and handmade party goods such as balloon bouquets, personalized banners and flags to adorn the house will make your pajama party a success. It will turn a nice evening into an extremely riotous happening. Sometimes the handmade banners, signs and flags are personalized and specifically designed to recognize the girl that is hosting the Pajama party. For the most part, personalized items compare to no others.

Most young girls will find a Pajama party complete with handmade party supplies such as, personalized banners, gift baskets, photo albums, glow sticks, bandanas and other homemade items to be very special and will cherish these memories for a lifetime.

A host just can’t plan a respectable pajama party without a vivid, vivacious and totally delicious pajama party cake. No kids' gathering is quite complete without a cake.

The ideal pajama party cake should be just as bright and fun as the party itself. It should be endlessly bright and beautifully vivacious, to say the least! In fact, the host might want to design a cake that resembles a pajama print; one that comes complete with the colors of the rainbow and a healthy sampling of stripes or polka dots. This effect can be achieved with different colors, flavors or patterns of icing, with candied flowers or polka dots, or with frosted dots. These cute and whimsical designs will be a hit with kids. The cake that lies beneath this complex spectacle could be any flavor or color. As long as it is yummy, kids will devour it.

A host also has the option of bringing a plain cake to the pajama party and challenging the guests to decorate it themselves; supplying them with icing tubes and boxes of candied flowers along with other party supplies to create their own pajama party cake. Kids will have a blast with this fun activity. No matter what color or flavor of cake they come up with, it will truly and fully be a pajama party cake.

Any pajama party will be rendered livelier and more enjoyable with the addition of a theme pajama party cake; one that both kids and hosts will enjoy. Rock on pajama party style with a beautiful tasty cake!

A good way to really celebrate your Bachelorette party is by combining it with the standard Pajama Party. This is a great idea, and a great way to get all your girlfriends together and remind them of what it was like when you were all young used to have pajama parties all the time. You can also save money this way as the pajama party doesn’t require reservations or entrance fees.

The adult Slumber party can also be a lot more interesting when you are an adult and creates a sense of nostalgia. You can create lots of fun games, like having your guests each create the perfect man and then they have to present or share their description with the group. You can use play-do, write it down with a pen and paper or even cut out and paste together the image of a man from magazines. It will get lots of laughs.

Your menu at the pajama party will probably include alcohol in some form, but don’t forget about including good food too. If you want you can use the standard fare, like popcorn, pizza, chocolate and chips. A themed pajama party can go even further with a fiesta theme, or a casino theme. For the fiesta party throw together a Mexican buffet, with tacos, enchiladas, and burritos. Have some fun and even break open a piñata filled with funny adult supplies, like tampons and condoms.

At a Casino styled, bridal pajama party you can get out the deck of cards and play a few rounds of poker with the gals. It’s possible to order your own set of themed playing cards, so you can place an image of you and your groom on the backs of the cards. Order several sets of personalized playing cards and give them out at your pajama party as party favors.

Pajama History, Facts and Educational Resources

Add an educational twist to any birthday party, holiday celebration, or theme party.  Share the history of the Pajama theme to the guests.  Play some free printable educational party games.  Shhh don't tell the kids that they are learning!

The Pajama Party is a fun festivity as well as a rite of passage. Every little girl should go to at least one. Dust off your p.j.s for a rockin’ Pajama Party.

The actual pajama (spelled pyjama in some cultures) likely originates from ancient Persia; and while it’s hard to trace the origins of the Pajama Party, it seems to have hit its peak of popularity in the partying ‘60s, when it was even immortalized in the Annette Funicello and Tommy Kirk movie titled (appropriately enough) “Pajama Party.” This film should be shown at any festivity of this sort. During that era, teen girls gathered at friends’ homes for fun overnights where they might listen to music and sing along (though perhaps not as adeptly as Annette and Tommy did!), gossip, enjoy sumptuous snack foods like pizza, ice cream, soda and cookies, gossip and share stories, and call friends on the phone. The girls also might enjoy time-honored pajama party rituals such as pillow fights and joke telling. In other words, they get together to have fun.

Through the years, the Pajama Party has experienced a number of changes and variations. Boys might have sleepovers with friends, but they’re almost never referred to as slumber parties. A guy would give you a funny look if you invited him to a slumber party. And these days, both very young children and adults might commemorate special occasions by donning their pajamas and gathering for a party; and sometimes, these festivities don’t even last all night.

The Ft. Worth Museum of Science and Industry, for instance, offers a daytime pajama party centered around the movie “Polar Express,” where kids are encouraged to dress in their p.j.s for a matinee showing of the children’s classic.

Whether a party host is young or simply young at heart, she can entertain her friends, kids, and maybe even aunts and grandmas with a Pajama Party. Plan the ultimate Pajama Party today! When decorating a room to match a given theme or idea explore not just the horizontal space, but the vertical space as well. Simple and well prepared food is often much better received at a gathering than complicated dished that don't quite hit the mark. When decorating a room to match a given theme or idea explore not just the horizontal space, but the vertical space as well. The history of Pajama has different interpretations by each person, so use your own judgement. Share these facts with friends at a celebration.
