Materials you will need to make patriotic pinwheels handmade party favors include construction or scrapbook papers, blue and red paint, white sparkling star stickers, push pins, large blue plastic straw or wooden dowels, punching machine and a pair of scissors. To start with paint the construction paper with blue on one side and red on the other. You can also paint the paper with blue on one side and with red and white stripes on the other. Once the paint dries cut a perfect square and fold it in half by lining up two opposite corners. Crease the edge and unfold the paper. Now, line up the other two corners, make the crease and then unfold the paper again. Cut along the four folds, starting from one outer end to halfway to the middle. Punch a hole in the outer, upper left corner of each triangle near the edge. Now, stick the star stickers on both sides of the paper and fold each triangle to the center such that all the holes meet in the center and insert the push pin to hold them together. Push the pin into the straw or the wooden dowels. Make sure that you don’t crease the paper while bending the corners.
