A Pirates of the Caribbean cake will be the talk of the birthday party surely. There are many ways to go about making a Pirates cake such as recreating one of the ships from the movie, a treasure chest, or the Pirates of the Caribbean Jolly Roger (flag) as seen on the movie posters. For a Pirates Jolly Roger flag, print out the image of the Jolly Roger flag the same size as the cake. Make the skull, red bandana, swords and the Pirates of the Caribbean and scroll underneath the skull. Place a large orange-yellow piece of fondant over the cake entirely. The next layer for the cake would be to add the torn, ripped flag on top of the orange-yellow base. Mold the skull and swords with fondant until it is satisfactory. Once the skull is formed, either use black fondant for the eyes and black sections of the skull or use food coloring. To add depth to the cake, color the cake with food coloring using a variety of brushes. Start with a simple Pirates of the Caribbean design and gradually build and see where the cake takes you.
