Homemade
Pirates of the Caribbean Costume
It’s easy to assemble a homemade Pirates of the Caribbean costume. You will need a bandana for around the head, some beads, short boots, a vest, and a long brown wig, unless, of course, your own hair is long and brown. Or, for a change, try a Samurai Warrior costume.
String some different colored beads onto fishing lines. It is easier to handle beads with the proper width beading needle. They should easily slide onto the fishing line. Fishing line is stronger than plain string, or you can use thicker elastic thread, as well. Then attach these beaded strings to the hair with small hair clips.
Now to give your handmade Pirates of the Caribbean costume some personality, cover the head with a bandana or scarf. Tie it onto the head on one side, or in the back. This scarf should also cover the clips that are holding on the beaded hair jewelry. Jack Sparrow also has a slim partial beard that is also beaded. You can take a piece of the wig and safely attach it to your chin with spirit glue. Or another spooky Halloween costume would be a Ghost Bride costume.
The pirate's shirt with flowing sleeves is perfect, but you can also use a long-sleeved shirt of any kind, and cut a slit in both sleeves from wrist to elbow. This also gives it a tattered look. Then top it off with a vest.
Any type of pants will do, but make it comfortable enough to push the bottoms of the pants into the short boots. A lighter material will make it easier to do this.
Finishing touches may include a wide, black belt, and a make-believe sword to carry around, as pirates did in those days. Remember, the more tattered the look, the more authentic it will be.
