Handmade Presidents Day Party Favors

President’s Day is the celebration of George Washington’s birthday, so your homemade party favors need to include his likeness. Since it actually falls on the third Monday in February, it is easy to make a party of that extended weekend.

The American flag is the obvious decoration for this President’s Day, but your handmade party favors can carry the flag to new heights. Make a centerpiece for your buffet table out of flags. You can use various sizes, some that you make and some that you buy, and place them all into a foam mold that has been fitted into a basket. Drape some of the flags with curled silver ribbon, and paint the basket red, white, and blue, and you will have a very festive centerpiece for your President’s Day celebration.

Red, white and blue takes over the theme as your homemade party favors continue the celebration with hanging streamers all over the party room. Make them red, white, and blue, as well, and some of them can have the President’s face on them. Just take a one dollar bill, copy the face of President Washington, and make as many of the faces as you want. You can enlarge them, if you like. Then glue them onto the streamers. Enlarge the President’s face a bit more, and use it all along your table cloth. You might even glue a few to your flag basket centerpiece.
