Presidents Day Brunswick Stew
Presidents Day Brunswick Stew its so dramatically good, me and my husband fight on who is going to make it next, its really fun making and easy we love getting all the credit for a delicious meal, our friends love it.
Cut up a pound of Chicken and put it in a large pan with three
quarts of water, one large onion, one half pound of lean ham cut
into small pieces and simmer gently for two hours. Add three
pints of tomatoes, one pint oflima beans, four large Irish
potatoes diced, one pint of grated corn, one tablespoon of salt,
one fourth teaspoon pepper, a small pod of red pepper.
Cover and simmer gently for one more hour stirring frequently to
prevent scorching. Add three onces of butter and serve hot.
Last year for Presidents Day my aunt Rosa had a picnic and she made the presidents day Brunswick stew and oh my, it was just GREAT.

| RING THE HAND BELL: For this Presidents Day party game put a hand-bell on the chair or on the stump (if you are in the forest). The player stands with his/her back to the hand-bell. He/she is blindfolded. He/she walks 10 steps forwards. There he/she is turned around for 2-4 times. Then the player must come back to the hand-bell and ring it. The player who manages to ring the bell gets a point. This Presidents Day game may be played in teams as well as individually. Lots more

Presidents Day MENU IDEAS |
 |
In order to honor President's Day you will want to include foods that are delicious as well as being easy to prepare. After all, you don’t want to spend the whole day stuck in the kitchen! Here are a few ideas to get you started:
For Presidents Day the perfect menu would be things like, Chicken casserole, pizza, sausage quiche, beef stroganoff, baked stew, and even cabbage soup as part of the main dishes depending on the number of guests. Side dishes may include broccoli casserole, rice casserole, sweet potato soufflé, or even sweet potato pudding.
Other great Presidents Day foods and desserts are things like, sweet potato pudding you will need 2 cups raw sweet potatoes grated, 1 cup of milk, 1 cup sugar, 2 eggs beaten slightly, 2 tablespoons melted butter, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, 1 teaspoon of nutmeg, and ¼ teaspoon salt. Grate the potatoes into the milk and then add the other ingredients. Pour into a greased casserole dish. You will need to bake it at 350 degrees for an hour.
For the perfect Presidents Day stew you may wish to combine two cans of beef broth, beef, carrots, bacon, potatoes and onion. You will also need cornstarch or flour to thicken the beef broth. To have the flavors combine and create soft meat you will want to cook the stew on a simmer for at least an hour. You may even elect to add a little cheese to top of the stew. Good side accompaniments include dinner rolls and a tossed salad.
President’s Day is very important to most of us as it honors those who have helped run our country, and helped to establish a system of democracy. It makes a great School party for the kids. Whether you use the above tips or some of your own ideas, you and your family and friends will well and truly be well-fed on Presidents’ Day. By just adding even one simple food item to the menu will help create
a complete Presidents Day theme party feeling. |
