Carrie is a shy, reclusive high school girl that is tormented by her classmates but gets the last laugh when she learns of her telekinetic powers. At the prom, Carrie takes her revenge out in very bloody fashion. Prom Night (1980) stars Jamie Lee Curtis is this slasher flick. On the most important high school night of the year a maniac killer is hell bent on taking out as many teens as possible. Prom Night (2008) follows the same basic premise.

Those interested in lighter prom theme movies should consider Saved! After learning that her devoutly Christian boyfriend is gay, Baptist high school student Mary sleeps with him in an effort to convert him to heterosexuality. When the rendezvous results in her pregnancy, Mary struggles to cope with the repercussions of being hated by her friends, family and with a pair of non-believers. Stars include Jena Malone, Mandy Moore, and Macaulay Culkin.
