COOKIES

No retirement party would be complete without some tasty refreshments, including some sumptuous homemade cookies.
Homemade retirement cookies should be as tasteful and classic as the retiree they honor—and stunningly decorative to boot. Delicate tea or flower-shaped cookies might be good at a party that honors a female, while a male honoree might prefer classic old standbys such as chocolate chip or oatmeal. All of these cookies could be iced in various festive colors, including pink, lavender and red for female honorees and black, silver and dark green for the males. As an added touch, these cookies could be arranged to spell out a special message to the retiree, like “Good luck,” “Congratulations,” or “Happy Retirement.”
As yet another option, the host could make homemade retirement cookies in the shape and likeness of common symbols associated with retirement. With a little help from some cookie cutters and decorative icing (plus other edible toppers like candies, nuts and raisins), the host could bake up edible likenesses of golf bags, balls and tees, playing cards (lemon bars in particular might make nice edible playing cards), knitting needles, rocking chairs, and gold watches. Guests, especially the grateful retiree, are bound to appreciate the extra effort it takes to plan, prepare and decorate these extra special cookies.
Don’t be ‘retiring’ when it comes to planning homemade Retirement cookies for a very special honoree. Make sure that these meaningful baked goods are tasty, filling, decorative, and worthy of a king or queen (even a retiring one)!
