The program Rock Star has a short history as a television series in which singers from all over the globe compete to become the lead singer of a bigger group. This program which aired for the first time on CBS in 2005 only boasted mildly good ratings. This show which was produced by Mark Burnett shows a tentative display of real chance at success. This series hosted several large stars including Dave Navarro and Brooke Burke.
In this shows history many bands have gotten to choose their new front man from the vast talent available on the show. During the second season the band Rock Star Supernova chose that year's winner Lukas Rossi as their new lead man. As the show got on a roll adding new front men to a list of top bands including INXS, they cut the cord and let them know they would not be on for a third season.
The history that could have been added to this television series was quickly cut short as the director of Rock Star had another venture in a series called Pirate Master that he wanted to bring to the forefront as well. This may be a decision he lived to regret as Pirate Master did not do so very well and previous Rock Star fans were highly annoyed at the loss of their favorite reality show. However before the show did shut down one of the most famous singers known as Chris Daughtrey who went onto become a top selling artist.
