Everyone dreams of becoming a rock star; or at least of hosting a truly rockin’ Rock Star talk trivia party.
The party host could start off by sharing some basic info about the show. Rock Star was a CBS television series that spanned for two seasons (2005-2007) in its initial run. This reality show competition was intended to find a new lead singer for two bands, INXS and Rock Star Supernova. The program was produced by reality show king Mark Burnett and hosted by musician Dave Navarro and model/television personality Brooke Burke.
No party discussion of Rock Star would be complete without a discussion of the legendary bands that filled the show’s core. It was tough to fill the shoes of the legendary Michael Hutchence, who lead the Australian rock band INXS for 20 years and lead the group to particular heights in the 1980s, when it scored major hits with “What You Need,” “Need You Tonight,” “New Sensation,” and many other tunes. Tragically, Hutchence passed away in 1997; and at the culmination of Rock Star, season one, J.D. Fortune was crowned the band’s new singer.
Rock Star Supernova was, true to its name, a mega group which consisted of Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee, former Metallica and current Voivod bassist Jason Newsted and former Guns N’ Roses guitarist Gilby Clarke. Season two of the show was dedicated to finding a lead singer of the band, with honors going to Lukas Rossi.
Fans of the show Rock Star will always remember the rare chance that it gave people of both genders, of all races and from all walks of life to become true, talented and undisputed rock stars.
