While Rosh Hashanah (Jewish New Year) solemn day of prayer and celebration does not mean children cannot participate in homemade Rosh Hashanah homemade games. There are numerous printables which children can color such as The Machzor, apple dipped in honey, rams horn, Shofar etc. Word search, word scramble, puzzles, mazes, and many other printables for children to color and enjoy.
What Is Missing? is a fun homemade Rosh Hashanah (Jewish New Year) game that can be played by small children. Use traditional Rosh Hashanah (Jewish New Year) items such as apples, honey jars, shofars, challahs, candles in holders, and Kiddush cups. Let the children look at the table full of the items and then instruct them to close their eyes. Remove 1-2 of the items off the table (the more items used the better for a more challenging game) and allow the children to open their eyes once again. The children must identify which of the items are missing.
Homemade Rosh Hashanah (Jewish New Year) mosaics from construction paper make for wonderful party games. Have the children cut out different shapes such as Star of David, shofars etc. and paste on a large piece of poster board.
Another fun Rosh Hashanah (Jewish New Year) is Torah, Shofar, and Magen Dovid! which is a take on Duck, Duck Goose! in which children form a circle while one taps each child on the head. The child who is tapped and called Magen Dovid then gets up and chases.
