To make your own invitations use construction paper and picture book pictures of Elmo, Abby Cadabby, or Big Bird. These pictures may be scanned and printed for the amount of invitations you will need. For Big Bird, just embellish the picture by gluing on feathers in big bird yellow, and write party details and any special instructions inside the card, and put in home made envelopes to mail or hand deliver.

Big Bird's Boy and Grover's Giant Girl!
Attach pictures of Grover and Big Bird to the wall. Using a marker, draw a ruler to measure each child's height, and add the caption "Big Bird says I'm ____Tall! Using a digital camera, photograph each child in place by the picture, and write the child's name on the photograph. Allow them to take their picture home as one of their party favors.
Cut out Big Bird's footprints from yellow contact paper and set up a winding path for guests to follow around the house and yard stepping on footprints all the way.

Make a Bert and Ernie Cake! It is simple to bake two round cakes from a mix or your favorite recipe. When they are done, frost one yellow and decorate it as Ernie, frost the other with orange and decorate it as Bert, placing them beside each other on platters.
Make sandwiches out of peanut butter and jelly and cheese. Cut off the crusts and cut them into basic shapes such as circles, triangles, squares, and rectangles, and have children identify the shape as they choose their sandwiches. |
