To make your own invitations use construction paper and picture book pictures of Elmo, Abby Cadabby, or Big Bird. These pictures may be scanned and printed for the amount of invitations you will need. For Big Bird, just embellish the picture by gluing on feathers in big bird yellow, and write party details and any special instructions inside the card, and put in home made envelopes to mail or hand deliver.

Big Bird's Boy and Grover's Giant Girl!
Attach pictures of Grover and Big Bird to the wall. Using a marker, draw a ruler to measure each child's height, and add the caption "Big Bird says I'm ____Tall! Using a digital camera, photograph each child in place by the picture, and write the child's name on the photograph. Allow them to take their picture home as one of their party favors.
Cut out Big Bird's footprints from yellow contact paper and set up a winding path for guests to follow around the house and yard stepping on footprints all the way.

Make a Bert and Ernie Cake! It is simple to bake two round cakes from a mix or your favorite recipe. When they are done, frost one yellow and decorate it as Ernie, frost the other with orange and decorate it as Bert, placing them beside each other on platters.
Make sandwiches out of peanut butter and jelly and cheese. Cut off the crusts and cut them into basic shapes such as circles, triangles, squares, and rectangles, and have children identify the shape as they choose their sandwiches.

An Abby Cadabby cake might be a challenge to create, but for the little girl of the house, an Abby Cadabby birthday theme would be great fun.
Abby Cadabby has curly purple hair, so it might take some imagination to create curls such as hers on a cake. But there are ways to do it with your cake decorating tools. Choose the right size attachment for the pastry bag by experimenting with different ones, until you get the one that creates a curly or wiggly design effect, and use that for the hair with purple frosting. The two ponytails and the bangs are all that is needed, plus two ties of a different color, as if they are holding the hair in the ponytails. The face and the ears are pink, along with the tongue that is exposed through the red mouth and lips. Next are the eyes, which are somewhat triangular in shape. Use a black decorating gel to outline the eyes and for the pupils. The iris is light blue, and the rest of the eyes can be filled in white.
Keep it simple, by just displaying Abby’s face, and miniature wands around the sides of the cake can be given out as party favors.
