Dream Works Animation does it again in the movies. This 2004 animation of “Shark Tales” was a delight to children all over the world, and it would make a great birthday party theme.

The party supplies for this event won’t be hard to find, as “Shark Tales” is a very popular theme in itself. You might want to also use a Scene Setter to make the party room like it is underwater. If these are placed all around the media area, the children will be watching the movie as they are pretending to be underwater themselves.

Nominated for best animation in several categories, this later became an advanced Game Boy video game. This would also be a great activity for the kids to play, as they wait for the show to begin.

And be sure to provide a box of “Kelpy Kremes,” the undersea version of Krispy Kremes, to the guests, along with a can of “Coral Cola,” or Coca Cola. It might be fun to have the kids come up with other underwater names of various items in the pantry. Have each of the kids find a product to hold up, so that the others can give it a seaworthy name. Write them down so they aren’t forgotten, and the one who has the most imagination in naming a product wins. Be sure to have a party favor that has something to do with Shark Tales for the winners of whatever games might be played at the party.

Sing-alongs are always fun, and there are songs to sing from the Shark Tales movies. Or, the kids can wait until the movie starts, and if Closed Captioning is provided, they can all sing along while reading the words.
