Shrek COOKIES

For a Shrek theme party bake homemade Shrek cookies for everyone to enjoy. Impress friends, family and strangers with excellent cookie making and decorating skills. Those interested in making homemade Shrek cookies can do so in a few easy steps. Shrek is the major character of the movie so baking cookies in his honor is a no brainer. Shrek can be made using green royal icing or fondant. Fondant is great for giving the cookies a 3D look but requires a skilled hand to transform the fondant into realistic characters - but it can be done. Bake a simple cookie and place the green fondant on the cookie. Use cornstarch oil on the cookie before placing the fondant. Use small modeling tools to form the shape of Shrek’s face as accurately as possible. One can also paint the fondant with color paste or gel mixed with vodka. Painting fondant will create depth and add shade to desire areas for a more realistic approach. Making a few dozen fondant cookies with tremendous detail may be too time consuming for many. Drawing Shrek on the cookies with a food marker then flooding in the areas to create Shrek with royal icing is an option as well. No Shrek party is complete with the Gingerbread man or Gingy. Gingy can easily be made with different facial expression using fondant or royal icing. Homemade Gingy cookies make wonderful party favors as well. Place the Gingy cookies in a clear plastic bag tied with curling ribbon.
