Shrek and his imaginary village has touched the hearts of millions around the world through the movies. In fact, Pixar was on top as the number one animators, until Dream Works came along with Shrek in 2001, winning the first Academy Award for Best Animated Film.

While the kids are waiting to see their favorite Shrek movie, perhaps a marathon of Shrek and Shrek II, they can be playing one of the many Shrek video games. And there are so many characters from the Shrek movies that a number of games can be played without the use of the video game equipment. Questions and answers comes to mind, as each of the characters have a certain quirk about them. If each of the guests has a question in mind about a certain character, the rest of the group has to guess which Shrek character they are talking about. The guests can be split into two teams, so that Team #1 asks questions of Team #2, and vice versa. The team with the most correct answers wins something of a party favor in the image of Shrek. So, be sure to include those winning prizes in your party supplies list.

And perhaps the kids have seen or heard about the Broadway hit, “Shrek, the Musical.” If they know the words to some of the songs, maybe a few kids would like to perform these songs for the others. There might be a musical scene that they remember and a few of them can act it out. Or there could be a sing-along among the guests. If one knows all the words, maybe he can write them down. A karaoke machine would also be a lot of fun.

Get the kids ready for their Shrek movie marathon with hot buttered popcorn. But make it interesting and green with green food coloring. They will understand why.
