Smurfs is making a comeback in popularity with the theatrical movie release so expect your young boy or girl to want Smurfs cake for their birthday. This exciting celebration is the ideal time for a variety of creative desserts and other tasty treats designed especially for this event. These items are always a great addition to a celebration and most often the addition of enjoyable desserts that are designed especially for this gathering will make everyone feel very special. There are many ways to make a Smurf cake, some more complicated than others obviously. A replica Smurf house from gumpaste and fondant is an option. The beaty of gumpaste and fondant is that easily can be molded in any shape and size (thing of it as an adult version of clay). A Smurfs cake can also be made from a Smurfs cake pan. A Smurfs cake pan will form the shape of the Smurf allowing the cake maker to apply the blue and white buttercream on top. For those who are short on time and budget may want to consider making a simple cake with a Smurf on top. Print out a Smurfs face on a sheet of paper and place it over the top the cake. Then, using a toothpick, prick holes in the sheet of paper to form the outline. Connect the dots by using piping gel or fondant to make the Smurf. Before the decorative touches applied, such as the Smurfs face, why not apply a smooth white fondant layer on the cake. This technique is done to give the cake a more professional, clean, sleek look.

Smurfs
The Smurfs are a wonderful theme for a child’s party. Most hosts will find that from making a guest list to preparing the food, having a plan will make the celebration go off without a hitch. Simple hostess tip: Prepare for the entire celebration in advance and avoid adding any extra commitments or stress on the hostess during the preparation period. This simple tip will ensure that the hostess has a stress free and very entertaining time during the actual celebration. The party colors should be blue, green and white. You can add some other colors as accents as well. The blue should be in different shades and hues. Send out invitations that give a little history of the Smurfs. Tell who they are and where they live, then invite the little guests to come visit the Smurf for a party. Make sure the invitation is blue and is in a blue envelope. Decorate for the party with a big banner that reads, Papa Smurf says Hello and Welcome to the Smurf Village. Have large cutouts and posters of the Smurfs on the walls. Hang streamers from the refreshment table and the backs of chairs. Have helium filled balloons floating around the room, in the party colors.

The party supplies can be blue and green plates and cups with white and yellow napkins. Put some pastel flowers around the room and stand up cutouts of mushroom shaped houses on the main refreshment table. Print out pictures of the main Smurf characters and glue them to card stock. Stand the cutouts up around the room on the table, on shelves, on the floor, anywhere they can be seen. Get a stuffed toy cat and high a little sign around its neck that reads,Azrael. Have cupcakes with blue frosting and put a party favor like a Smurf ring on each one. Sandwiches and a fruit salad with strawberries and blueberries would be good. Serve with fruit juice and have a great party.

Smurfs History, Facts and Educational Resources

Add an educational twist to any birthday party, holiday celebration, or theme party.  Share the history of the Smurfs theme to the guests.  Play some free printable educational party games.  Shhh don't tell the kids that they are learning!

The Smurfs are far more than just popular cartoon characters; they represent a phenomenon of children’s entertainment whose history has spanned more than a half century. Most people are amazed at the history behind many of the shows from the present and past. Like others before them the times of past and the recordings are often as interesting now as they were many years ago. For this reason, fans of the show have held strong and their popularity has continued to grow.

The facts are that many people associate these precious little blue characters with the popular animated Saturday morning television show. Indeed, to an 80s kid, a Smurf represents the embodiment of innocence and good times.

What few people realize about Smurfs history, however, is that these all-American (as in red, white and extremely blue) characters originated overseas. Indeed, it was Belgian cartoonist Peyo who created the Smurfs characters in the 1950s. Smurfs appeared frequently in overseas newspapers before the great blue craze caught on in the good old United States.

Soon the Smurfs were everywhere, appearing in a phenomenally popular Saturday morning television show and even several motion pictures; fans of Smurf trivia facts will know that the most popular of these is The Smurfs and the Magic Flute. Smurfs dolls, figurines and novelties soon filled the shelves of toy stores, as did Smurf coloring books (sales of blue crayons probably skyrocketed during the 1980s) and school supplies.

Part of the Smurfs’ history-making popularity—aside, of course, from their drop dead cuteness and the high moral value of their programs—can no doubt be attributed to the warmth and individuality of each Smurfs character. All of the Smurfs display strong character traits such as kindness, teamwork and resourcefulness; individually, Papa Smurf, Smurfette and all the others are very special little blue people, all in their own right.

Fans of Smurfy facts will know that now the Smurfs are set to star in their latest movie, a delightful combination of 3-D live action and animation set to be released Aug. 3. Plan ahead by including at start time for the day and if needed include a reasonable end time as well. Don't wait until the last minute to set up for a celebration, you will be hurried and stressed by the time the guests start to arrive. Plan ahead by including at start time for the day and if needed include a reasonable end time as well. The history of Smurfs has different interpretations by each person, so use your own judgement. Share these facts with friends at a celebration.
