Smurfs Costume

Smurfs are blue, except for their white pants with feet, and white hat, so a homemade Smurfs costume needs only two colors to complete. Another cute costume to try would be the Lil Penguin Deluxe costume.

The blue material that is chosen should be stretchy and easy to work with. A body suit type outfit will be created that may even include the feet. The pants part and feet can be all attached to the top of the costume, but be sure to include enough space so that the child’s shoes or sneakers can comfortably fit into the white handmade feet part of the Smurfs costume. If two parts of the costume are desired, the pants and shoes can be attached with the use of Velcro. Velcro is easy to use, because both sides of it are super sticky. Just run one side of the Velcro all around the edge of the pants, then attach the top part of the costume to it by sticking it onto the other side of the Velcro. When it is pulled apart, both sides of the costume each have Velcro on them to easily attach them later.

The white hat is next. This can have a very comfortable shape, or really no shape at all. It will be long and fit comfortably over the top of the child’s head. Then it can be stuffed with foam or other material to give it whatever type of shape is desired.

For the face, the child will be painted with matching blue paint that allows the skin to breathe and washes off easily. Or try a Jr. Astronaut Suit costume. And let the fun begin!
