A spa party is the ultimate cool down session for today’s busy professionals, particularly those of the female persuasion. This just may be the ultimate girls' day in! A spa party is generally a serene, low key celebration shared among friends. ‘Play up’ the quiet, sedate mood of a spa party with a playlist that will soothe and massage the ears of guests as their bodies get the same treatment. Pick the perfect mood music to really set the scene.

These songs could include:

Trouble Sleeping by Corinne Bailey Rae. Contrary to its title, this is a very relaxing little ditty.
On the Ocean by K’Jon. This would be particularly good to play when guests are in the pool or hot tub.
Side Streets by Saint Etienne. This song is both hip and soft, cool and soothing.
Pandora by Cocteau Twins. Think you'll have a relaxing song session without Enya?!
Diamonds and Pearls by Prince
Steal Away by Robbie Dupree
Runaway by Jefferson Starship. This smooth and ultra mellow classic is pleasing to the ears.
Only Time by Enya
Gotta Get Back by Shelby Lynne
Dreamin by Vanessa Williams
Raincoat by Kelly Sweet
Cool Dream by John Sokoluff
Even the party supplies for a spa party can be soothing and relaxing, especially if they include floral decorations throughout the party area, banners, ribbons and streamers in soothing hues like pink, ivory, silver and lavender, and similarly soothing scents that can come in the form of lavender and cinnamon sachets, as well as scented lamps. Take home party favors for a spa party could include bath gels and oils, as well as small scented soaps and flavorful herbal teas. Creative idea: Matching or contrasting color decor items such as plates and cups will work for any theme ideas. If you specify the type of clothing for a social event like summer causal, give a few examples of what is acceptable and more importantly what isn't. When all is said and done, favors given to those guests who were able to attend will both feel appreciated and be reminded of the day whenever they look at that favor.

A Spa party is the perfect opportunity for friends to get together and relax with homemade party supplies such as handmade vases with lilacs, homemade scented candles and handmade bath robes. These little luxuries will do much to enhance the mood. From manicures and facials to pedicures and massages, a Spa Party is a very relaxing event for your friends. It isn't often these days they get to get away. The Spa party itself, only gets better with the addition of soothing music, handmade eye masks and an assortment of homemade lotions and oils made with sea salt. A variety of other party supplies and party goods such as house slippers, hot towels, sunglasses and homemade lotions will only add to the Spa Party. Guests will feel spoiled, relaxed and totally pampered.

Homemade party supplies such as drink umbrellas, wine markers and personalized water bottles will be unique homemade party supplies to use for this quaint occasion. These homemade items along with a variety of other dainty homemade party supplies and party goods such as personalized towels, robes and eye masks will add a lot of flair to the Spa party. Always remember that luxurious does not have to equal expensive.

Planning and preparation is much easier with homemade spa party supplies and party goods. The homemade party supplies such as handmade eye masks and homemade oils and lotions will make your Spa party one that will compare to no others. Guests are sure to remember this fest for a long time.

A spa party is far more than just a party, it’s a luxurious getaway for today’s ever busy women and girls; and a luxurious party deserves nothing less than a tasty and elegant spa party cake. This must be more than a cake, but an elegant pastry. Refreshments at a spa party are generally upscale, and include delicacies such as brie, escargot, dainty finger sandwiches and spicy dips; so when considering and choosing a spa party cake, think classy and beautiful over funny or plain. This is not a kids' party or a boys' night out.

As many spa party guests are typically female, a spa party cake with fluffy pink icing would always be in place at a festivity with this theme; as would a cake with thick ivory icing and red or pink candied flowers. A rich, decorative cake of red forest or black velvet also would fit in well at a spa party, or—for the diet-conscious crowd—an angel food cake with whipped cream icing. Guests will relish both the look and the flavor.

High-end novelty cakes also might work well as a spa party cake. Cover a round cake with fluffy blue butter cream icing and chocolate borders—along with party supplies like tiny dolls wrapped in robes and towels, and you’ve got a cake that resembles the type of hot tub typically found at a spa. It's OK for the cake to be fun, as long as it's tastefully so. A cake topped with fresh fruit or a yogurt-based topping could mix the sweetness of a party cake with the health-conscious atmosphere embodied by a spa. After all, the gals might want to eat light and healthy.

The Spa is a wonderful place to go to relax, recuperate and rejuvenate, the three ‘R’s. There are two basic kinds of spa’s the resort spa and the day spa. Lots of people spend time at a day spa in order to get a little bit of relaxation and a short vacation. It can also be a good place to celebrate your birthday or some other special occasion. Friends and family members often give gifts in the form of time at the spa, but it’s not often that they hold the party at a spa. This can be a great way to relax with your friends and family along.

A day at the spa will involve massage, aromatherapy, soothing manicure and pedicures, heated soaks and warm mud wraps. If you want you can visit the spa before the big party so you have an idea of what the place offers. The Spa host or hostess will be glad to show potential customers around, especially those who are planning on throwing a party with a number of guests at the spa.

When looking for a good spa to have your event at you should keep in mind whether or not the facility will be large enough for all of your guests. You don’t want some guests sitting around waiting for a masseuse or pedicurist to get to them. There should be a sufficient number of employees to manage the entire party. You might also check and see if the spa offers a group discount which can make the entire event easier on your group’s collective pocket books. There should also be an area within the spa where everyone can sit down together, be it near a pool or a reception area so you can exchange gifts and talk about the party.

Spa History, Facts and Educational Resources

The Spa Party may be among the most celebrated festivities in modern times. This is the ultimate girls' day in, to be sure.

And not so modern. Indeed, the people of ancient Greek and Roman civilizations often gathered at public baths to enjoy luxurious hot springs sessions and social time. Even back then folks knew how to chill!

In America during the 1970s and ‘80s, women started to regard spas as a social hot spot; a place where they could gather with friends and relatives and share fun girl talk while getting massages, waxings, facials, salt glow treatments, makeovers and hair stylings, etc. They left feeling refreshed, revitalized and totally pampered. And so the spa party (or sparty) was born.

In the notorious 1970s movie “The Stud,” Joan Collins and Sue Lloyd are seen kicking back at a spa, enjoying girl talk as they get luxurious massages. These gals certainly knew how to have fun. While not many spa parties are as (ahem!) interesting as the ones depicted in “The Stud,” these dos tend to feature lavish servings of champagne and hors d’oeuvres for guests to enjoy as they get their hair ‘did,’ their backs rubbed and their skin replenished. As an added touch, many spas enhance their atmosphere by piping in soothing music and placing aromatherapy lamps throughout the facility. These little accents add to the ambience of the event.

Also in the past decade, teens and adults alike have staged spa parties at home. After going shopping for items that range from mud facials to nail polish, massage oils to hair accessories (and, of course, tea and caviar), ladies set up at-home spas that feature a variety of stations; as well as a myriad of memories they’re sure to cherish. Their minds will feel just as refreshed as their skin.

Plan a spa party today! Plan ahead by including at start time for the day and if needed include a reasonable end time as well. Don't wait until the last minute to set up for a celebration, you will be hurried and stressed by the time the guests start to arrive. Plan ahead by including at start time for the day and if needed include a reasonable end time as well. The history of Spa has different interpretations by each person, so use your own judgement. Share these facts with friends at a celebration.
