A festive
party can be had with an
educational twist.
If your preschooler wants a Spongebob Squarepants party, he is not alone! It is one of the most popular character and parties for preschoolers everywhere. Of course, you want to incorporate activities to your party that are fun and educational that fit the Spongebob Party theme, but never fear, It is very simple and easy to do!
Begin with Spongebob's bubble love. He is a constant source of bubbles under the sea! Your little party participants can join Spongebob, and imitate his bubble blowing prowess, while you help them learn team work and following instructions by making their own bubbles. Buy bubble wands, or create your own using thin guage, flexible wire. Purchase small, plastic bottles with lids. Fill your bottles ¾ of the way full with water. Add 2T of dish detergent to the bottle, cap and shake. Depending on the ages of the participants, they may need adult supervision and assistance with this. These treats can be refilled easily and they may take them home as a party favor once the party is over.
Another learning skill essential for younger children is listening skills. Being able to listen attentively and follow instructions, are two skills that smaller children must no only learn but constantly reinforce. Two remakes of classic children's games are Spongebob, May I? And a simple play on the Red Rover Game that we all remember fondly.
In Spongebob Come Over, simply divide participants into two groups. Let them line up on opposing ends of a predetermined space outdoors. Have them link hands. Then play exactly like you would play Red Rover, except say, “Spongebob Squarepants, in a Pineapple under the sea, Send My Friend __________ on over to me!” and play until you can see the participants are tired or ready to move on to another activity. This is a good activity to use as participants are arriving or leaving.
In Spongebob, May I, play the game exactly as you would play Mother May I. The participants will have to listen carefully, and do (or NOT do) as they are told to remain in the game!
