Kick off any Spongebob Squarepants party with a discussion of this popular sponge and his long-running show. The animated television program Spongebob Squarepaints revolves around the adventures of a fun-loving sea sponge and his equally colorful friends, who reside in the underwater community of Bikini Bottom. Spongebob, specifically, calls a pineapple his place of residence and counts among his closest cronies Patrick Star, a pink seastar, and Squidward Tentacles, an octopus.
Spongebob Squarepants ranks as Nickelodeon’s highest rated show and is 15th in IGN's top 100 animated series list.
The host also should point out that Spongebob Squarepants was the brainchild of marine biologist and animator Stephen Hillenburg, who also has experience as a teacher and filmmaker.
