Irish eyes are sure to smile at a tune-filled St Patricks Day celebration; one sure to bring sweet music to the heart of any proud Irish person—and really, on St Patricks Day, who isn’t a proud Irish person? The ideal St Patricks Day celebration calls for a playlist that will make partygoers ‘green’ with envy. It could include songs such as:

Irish Eyes Are Smiling by The Irish Tenors
Real Men Wear Kilts by Celtic Thunder
Heartland by Celtic Thunder
Belfast Polka by Celtic Thunder
Danny Boy by Celtic Woman
Zombie by The Cranberries
Caledonia by Celtic Woman
Ode to My Family by The Cranberries
Sunday Bloody Sunday by U2
I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For by U2
And when planning a St. Patrick’s Day bash, green beer should be only one of the party supplies in evidence at the festivity. Others should include paper and foil shamrocks that hang from the ceiling, shamrock-shaped coasters, tiny pots filled with gold coins (or, even better and substantially more economical, chocolate coins covered with gold paper), emerald green table coverings and “Kiss Me, I’m Irish” buttons for everyone.

Guests will enjoy ‘the luck of the Irish’ at the perfect St. Patricks Day bash! Creative idea: Matching or contrasting color decor items such as plates and cups will work for any theme ideas. If you specify the type of clothing for a social event like summer causal, give a few examples of what is acceptable and more importantly what isn't. When all is said and done, favors given to those guests who were able to attend will both feel appreciated and be reminded of the day whenever they look at that favor.

St Patrick’s Day homemade party supplies such as Leprechaun costumes, green beer mugs, costume jewelry and handmade St. Patrick’s Day party streamers are great additions to any St Patrick’s Day party. Most St Patrick’s Day guests will enjoy and compare handmade party supplies such as handmade St Patrick’s Day tablecloths, homemade door curtains, handmade vests and handmade St Patrick’s Day flags to traditional party supplies.

Homemade St. Patrick’s Day leprechaun costumes can be created by cutting a hole in the top of the bag for a head and on the sides for the arms. The bags can be decorated to look like a vest, etc… and then a homemade hat can be made from green felt. This simple touch will create an authentic Irish St Patrick’s Day outfit. Children and adults will enjoy making their own St. Patrick’s Day Leprechaun outfits.

Handmade party supplies such as homemade centerpieces, green felt hats and handmade vests will be popular at your St Patrick’s Day celebration and most often will compare to no others. In addition to the homemade vests, handmade centerpieces and homemade felt hats other homemade St Patrick’s Day party supplies can include Irish party music, musical instruments, lucky charm costume jewelry and other handmade St. Patrick’s Day items.

A green day indeed, start with planning a St Patricks Day birthday cake on the day. This is the one day that everyone gets the chance to be Irish and celebrate the day with friends, coworkers, family and strangers. All the while wearing shades of green, drinking green drinks and much more. For example start with a white cake mix as the base of the design and follow the directions on the box, just adding extra ingredient from the party supplies. That extra option would be green food die, opting to add one’s on choice of possible shades of green. Alright so once we have decided on and completed the cake there are few extras that can be added to the top of the cake. Include small black pots of gold on the top of the cake with rainbows to lead the way. Another good option would be to have the four leaf clover created in icing on the cake. Remember this is about as much Ireland as it is the saint’s day, which might include a miniature statue of the saint for example. Using green icing run some lines around the edge of the cake on the top and the sides to complete the look.

As Irish legend has it, Saint Patrick of the holiday Saint Patrick's was of Wales, born in AD 385. He took on work as an Irish Ireland bishop ironically after spending the first sixteen years of his life as a pagan. It took being captured and sold as a slave by Irish marauders to cause him to create a relationship with God.

He lived as a slave for six years before he escaped to Gaul. Here, he dedicated twelve years of his life to the monastery of Saint Germain, the Auxerre bishop, that he had escaped to and he firmly believed at the close of his studies that he was meant to convert pagan believers in the direction of God. The young lad of The Saint Patrick’s Day tale soon would travel back to Ireland to convert others to Christianity.

Saint Patrick carried on in this manner, establishing monasteries, schools and churches in Ireland for thirty years before retiring to a place named County Down, where he died in 461 AD. There is a vast amount of folklore that has never been substantiated. Some believed he raised people of the dead while other stories claim he eradicated all of the snakes of Ireland with one sermon. Even with such a religious background, Saint Patrick’s Day has come to be a secular holiday.

The ever-famous icon held in the three-leafed-shamrock comes from an Irish legend where Saint Patrick used this object to describe Trinity: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit as separate but connected entities. Believers gained a custom of wearing a shamrock on Saint Patrick’s day of feast.

America formally adopted this legend in 1737 when its people publicly celebrated the holiday in Boston. Today this ceremony includes the color of green to represent the shamrock, parades of celebration and the merry times of socializing withbeer.

March 17th marks the recognition of St. Patrick each year, and the history began with a strictly Catholic holiday. It became an official holiday in the early 1800’s, and the celebration of Irish culture continues today.

St. Patrick lived from AD387 to AD461. He was a patron saint in Ireland and is one of the most commonly recognized patron saints. Although very little is known about his early childhood, he was born into wealth in Roman Britain, and was kidnapped at 16 by Irish raiders. He confessed that God had told him how to escape this slavery, and he fled to the coast, boarded a ship and joined the church upon his arrival to Britain, vowing and studying to be a priest. One of his methods of teaching was to use a shamrock to explain the doctrine of Christianity to the Irish, using the three-leaved plant to teach the Trinity. He is believed to be the principal champion of Christianity for Ireland, and after 13 years of being an evalgelist, he died on March 17, in the year 461.

The St. Patrick’s Day Festival is a festival which takes place over a number of days nationwide in Ireland. But in the northern part of Ireland, it is strictly a bank holiday.

Although we associate the color green with St. Patrick’s Day, originally it was blue. But since shamrocks and green ribbons were worn even in the 1800’s, the color green grew in popularity when associating with this holiday. The “wearing of the green” actually refers to wearing a shamrock on a piece of one’s clothing. Plan ahead by including at start time for the day and if needed include a reasonable end time as well. Don't wait until the last minute to set up for a celebration, you will be hurried and stressed by the time the guests start to arrive.
