Star Wars is an epic American franchise operated as well as conceived by a man who has a lot of history, George Lucas, the widely renowned director. The first Star Wars film to begin the franchise debuted in theaters in 1977. In a time before some of the space travel viewed in the movie was still yet unheard of this film was met widely with astounding reaction from fans who created an entire pop culture surrounding it. The film saga began in 1977 and was followed shortly by two more sequels that were all released in three year intervals.
History repeated itself sixteen years later as Lucas backtracked and began to create the prequels to his original films. With pop culture still raving about his first Star Wars films fans and fanatic movie goers prepared for the see all end all of Star Wars films. Most were not disappointed in the improvements that technology lent to this prequel series.
This was also a great addition to the history of George Lucas's career as last counted to date in 2008 this series of films had grossed over five billion worldwide. However the Star Wars frenzy over the years has spawned many other types of media including tv shows, video games, comic books as well as other books. Although CGI lent itself to the improvements in the film since its last trip around, fans still love the old school look of the original Star Wars film that aired in 1977.
