St Louis Rams History & Facts
The St. Louis Rams with their gold and blue décor began making NFL history in Cleveland, Ohio in 1936. At that time, they were known as the Cleveland Rams and played there until 1945. From there the team moved to Los Angeles, California and then the team became known as the Los Angeles Rams and played there from 1946- 1994. However, another move was inevitable and in 1995, the team moved to its current home, St. Louis, Missouri and become known as the St. Louis Rams. The Rams currently play in the Edward Jones Down located in St. Louis, Missouri, which is also home to Busch Stadium and the Gateway Arch. Over the years, the St. Louis Rams have been one of the most successful football teams in the NFL (National Football League). They have won many playoff games and division championships, but have only one won Super Bowl. In 1999, they won Super Bowl XXXIV by defeating the Tennessee Titans at the Georgia Dome. The winning tradition and history of the St. Louis Cardinals cannot be credited to only one team. The success of the current St. Louis Rams can be attributed to the players and coaches from the 1936 to the present day. The history of the Cleveland Rams, Los Angeles Rams, and the current St. Louis Rams have led to the winning tradition that is present today. Through the years, there have been numerous contributors to the overall accomplishments of the Rams. Some of the most noteworthy players and coaches from the years past were: Dan Reeves, Kenny Washington, Bob Waterfield, Rosey Grier, Merlin Olsen, and George Allen. These men contributed to the success and helped shape the history and develop the tradition of the St. Louis Rams.
