What young girl doesn’t love Strawberry Shortcake; and what lass wouldn’t love a party jam-packed with Strawberry Shortcake trivia?
Guests at a Strawberry Shortcake party will no doubt want to chat about what makes this little wonder so very special. Strawberry Shortcake is a whimsical, freckled red-headed character who has inspired a line of merchandise that includes full-sized stuffed and smaller scented dolls (indeed, a small Strawberry Shortcake doll doubles as a scented air freshener!), miniatures, stickers, school supplies, coin purses, play sets, comic books, posters, lip gloss necklaces, video games, DVDs and educational CD-Roms, etc.; not to mention her own Saturday morning TV show and a 2006 motion picture (“Strawberry Shortcake: The Sweet Dreams Movie”), in which she shares lighthearted adventures with a bevy of equally sweet friends, such as Huckleberry Pie, Apple Dumplin', and Plum Puddin’.
The party host also should discuss the history of this franchise at any Strawberry Shortcake party. The character has come a long way since her beginnings in 1977, when American Greetings illustrator Muriel Fahrion introduced a design of the character and her cat Custard in the company’s Juvenile & Humorous card department. Eventually the doll and her cuddly comrades became popular characters in Those Characters From Cleveland (American Greetings' toy and licensing design division); the first doll in the Strawberry Shortcake line was a rag doll conceptualized by Muriel Fahrion and created by Susan Trentel, Fahrion's sister. Dolls even were made of the characters’ pets, and by the early 1980s few little girls were without Strawberry Shortcake dolls of their very own.
Strawberry Shortcake is a heroine to young girls everywhere; indeed, kids would greatly enjoy a party that features lots of Strawberry Shortcake trivia and talk! Plan the ultimate Strawberry Shortcake party today!
