Through all of these various incarnations, the legend of Superman has remained essentially the same. The character finds his origins on the planet Krypton; and, ironically enough, a mysterious substance known as Kryptonite represents his only major weakness. Superman comes to Earth under the guise of bespectacled reporter Clark Kent, who works at a newspaper The Daily Planet alongside heroine and love interest Lois Lane. His true earthly purpose, however, is to defend the planet Earth from all enemies and interlopers; defending the cause of truth, justice and the American Way!
