People love surprises – especially surprise birthday parties – but do not forget to surprise party guests with homemade party favors. Depending on the age group the attendees are will play an important part in what type of party favors can be given out. Cookies are common handmade party favors that are suitable for all types of crowds. Make delicious cookies of chocolate chip or oatmeal with raisins and place them in a decorative plastic bag with a ribbon around the top to seal.

What about those who are not interested in baking cookies and want surprise party favors that can be longer lasting. Flower seeds make excellent party favors because they give guests an opportunity to grow flowers – and who does not like flowers. Place the seeds in small plastic bags or tape to craft sticks. The same can be done with tea also.

Homemade votive candles with olive oil are great surprise homemade party favors. Adding essential oils to the olive oil will create a lovely scent to the candles.

There are children at nearly every type of party so ensure they are taken care of as well with homemade party favors. Children may not have any use for a handmade votive candle but they will make great use of candy.
