Sweet 16 Trifle
Sweet 16 Trifles are the perfect dessert for your next big event. Make them and continue making them just as I do. They are simple, quick and super duper yummy.
. 9-inch sponge cake layer
3/4 cup dry sherry
2 packages frozen raspberries
2 packages frozen peaches
Chilled custard sauce
2 egg whites
1 cup heavy cream
1 tablespoon sugar
1/2 cup toasted slivered almonds
Thaw and drain fruit. Slice sponge cake into three thin layers. Place
one layer in the bottom of a serving bowl. It should be flat-bottomed
and about 10 inches across and five inches deep. If you have one of
glass, use it because the layers of the trifle look very pretty. Sprinkle
the cake layer with one-quarter cup sherry. Spread about 1 third of the
raspberries and peach slices on top. Pour one-third of the custard over
the fruit. Repeat cake, sherry, fruit and custard layers, saving a dozen
or so raspberries for garnish. To make the topping, beat egg white until
stiff and in a separate bowl, whip cream. Stir sugar into cream and
gently fold in beaten egg white. Mound cream and egg white mixture over
the top of the trifle. Garnish with raspberries and toasted almonds.
Refrigerate until ready to serve.
t
Trifles are good for any occasion, but they were really fun to have at Susie sweet 16 last year. I first tried them there and I am so happy I got the recipe from her mother Linda.

| KITE AND BROOD HEN: The players form up in a line. They take each other by the waist. The first in the line is "a brood-hen," all the rest are "chickens". One of the players is "a kite". He/she tries to catch the last "chicken" in the line. "The brood-hen" tries to prevent him/her from doing it. "The brood-hen" bars the kite's way by the stretched arms. All "the chickens" try to help "the brood-hen", by moving the end of the line away from "the kite". When "the kite" catches "the chicken" the players will choose the new "kite" and "brood-hen". If "the kite" doesn't succeed in catching "the chicken" for a long time, he/she is replaced by the other player. Lots more

Sweet 16 MENU IDEAS |
 |
You would think that it’s easy to come up with some fun and simple ideas for your daughter’s Sweet 16 party. However, the tradition of the very expensive and overblown Sweet 16 celebration has infiltrated most party planning guides. Don’t even ask about a menu for the Sweet 16 or you’ll end up with some private chef explaining the merits of fresh tenderloin versus prepackaged tenderloin steaks wrapped in bacon for your menu preparations. However it’s still possible to put together a fun Sweet 16 party menu that the kids will enjoy.
A sample menu for your child’s Sweet 16 party can be very elegant and easy to put together. There’s no need to worry about the food when you’ve got so many other things going on at once. Plan a brunch style brunch for your Sweet 16 with serve yourself food items. Make up a general tossed salad with Cherry tomatoes, baby carrots and sliced onion. In addition mix up a quick chicken salad with mayonnaise, pickles and crumbled bacon so the guests can make themselves chicken salad wraps or sandwiches. A great pick up appetizer item is mini quiches. Make up quiche mix as you would for a normal sized quiche and fill up the mini quiches instead. You can also make up mini pecan pies this way too. Mix up an adult non-alcoholic punch for your sweet 16 guests to wash everything down with.
An additional treat for the Sweet 16 party can be 16 piece Lemon Bars. You’ll need; flour, butter, powdered sugar, 2 eggs, granulated sugar, baking powder, salt, lemon juice. First mix up 1 cup flour, ¼ cup powdered sugar, and ½ cup butter. Press into an ungreased pan and bake 20 minutes at 350 degrees. In a bowl mix up the 2 eggs, 1 cup sugar, ½ teaspoon baking powder, ¼ teaspoon salt, and 2 tablespoons lemon juice. Pour over crust and bake for about 25 minutes in 350 degree oven. Cut into 16 squares to serve to guests.
With these tasty brunch items at your next Sweet 16 party you’ll have a great time of it and the guests will love your food. Don’t forget to decorate with Sweet 16 party goods and you’ll need plenty of paper goods for the Birthday table. By just adding even one simple food item to the menu will help create
a complete Sweet 16 theme party feeling. |
