Thomas the Tank Engine is a popular and educational children’s character who claims millions of young fans around the world. All on board for a Thomas the Tank Engine party; one that comes complete with lots of Thomas the Tank talk (Try saying that three times fast!)
The host at any Thomas the Tank Party could first discuss the traits and characteristics that make Thomas ‘the little engine that could.’ Thomas is a gentle and loveable character (yep, even full-powered trains can be gentle) who is always seen with a smile; and this blue tank engine—modeled after an E2 Class engine circa 1913--has been seen quite a bit through the years as an icon of children’s entertainment.
Next guests could talk a bit about Thomas’ history. Interestingly enough, Thomas began his life as a small wooden toy created by Rev. W. Awdry for his son Christopher. The father and son duo went on to collaborate on The Railway Series books; a series in which Thomas the Tank Engine, the fictional steam locomotive, frequently appeared. He even had his own book in the series, the 1946 story anthology “Thomas the Tank Engine.” And he got his own TV show, Thomas and Friends, which debuted in 1979.
Thomas the Tank also has inspired a full line of kids’ merchandise, including miniature Thomas the Tank toys (some of which move and make noise), stickers, spinning tops, cardboard cutouts, blow outs, bookmarks, storybooks, and themed school supplies like pens, pencils and notebooks. Indeed, Thomas is often regarded among the most popular and educational children’s kids on today’s market.
So why not celebrate Thomas the Tank Engine with a trivia party that’s tanked full of talk about the loveable steam engine.
