Children everywhere will ‘clap’ in approval when they attend a Tinkerbell party; especially one which comes complete with lots of magical, mystical trivia facts.
Guests will have a lot of fun talking up this character and her impressive history. ‘Tink,’ as she is lovingly nicknamed, has come a long way baby. She started out as a supporting character in J.M. Barrie’s 1904 play and 1911 novel Peter and Wendy. Since then she has appeared in various versions of the filmed fairy tale “Peter Pan,” particularly the 1953 animated version of this classic story. She has been played by Julia Roberts (in the 1991 Peter Pan adaption called “Hook”), and cast in bronze (via a bronzed statue created by the artist Diarmuid Byron O'Connor).
Now this tiny fairy, known for her golden hair, mischievous expression, and lacy wings (and, for that matter, for leaving a trail of pixie dust wherever she does), is truly the star of the show. She headlines a children’s video cartoon series called (appropriately enough) “Tinkerbell,” and is the central character in the Disney media franchise (consisting of cartoons, toys and games) known as the Disney Fairies; a fanciful set of stories that takes place in the mystical land of Pixie Hollow.
Don’t forget to mention the fact that Tinkerbell is also the official mascot of Disney, appearing in Disney and Disney Channel logos. Plus ‘Tink’ has inspired a vast plethora of Disney merchandise, including Tinkerbell dolls, figurines, stickers, bookmarks, costume jewelry rings and lip gloss necklaces, plus fairy stickers, wands and bookmarks.
Clap if you believe in fairies; and clap harder still if you want to hear some primo Tinkerbell trivia!
