THEME RECIPE

Tweety's Lebkuchen
Tweety's Lebkuchen is a great dessert for that Tweety theme party. I had a Tweety theme party for my best friend Mary and I made this for dessert and they were so good everyone was like wow, these are good
60g (2 oz) butter
2/3 cup golden syrup
1 3/4 cups plain flour
1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon cardamom
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon cocoa
1 tablespoon milk
30g (1 oz) mixed peel
2 tablespoons plain flour, extra
raspberry jam
125g (4 oz) dark chocolate
Melt butter over low heat in medium-sized saucepan, add golden syrup,
bring to boil, remove from heat; stand ten minutes. Add sifted dry
ingredients, milk and finely chopped peel, stir with a wooden spoon
until smooth, cover, stand at room temperature for 1 1/2 hours. Mixture
will become thicker.
Turn the mixture onto surface which has been dusted with extra flour.
Knead lightly, working in only enough of this flour until the mixture
loses its stickiness.
Roll out to 8mm (about 1/2 in) thickness. Cut out with a heart shaped
or any other cutter, about 5cm (2 in) diameter. Place on lightly greased
oven trays.
Using the end of a wooden spoon, gently push indentation into centre of
biscuit; don't push right through. Fill with about 1/2 teaspoon of jam.
Bake in moderate oven 8 to 10 minutes or until golden. Leave on trays
until completely cold.
Melt chocolate in top of double saucepan over simmering water. Spoon
on to saucer for easier handling. Dip bases of biscuits into chocolate;
smooth excess chocolate off with a knife. Place jam-side down on foil
lined trays, refrigerate until chocolate is firm.
Makes about 40. (Source: The Big Book of Beautiful Biscuits)
Tweety's Lebkuchen are not only cute looking for table decoration but they taste great I love the cocoa flavor and cinnamon as well.

Tweety MENU IDEAS |
 |
The yellow Tweety bird that everyone loves is very popular for a theme to use at any party event. Kids in particular love this little Loony Toons character so you’ll have an easy time convincing them to have a Tweety party, especially if they like cartoons. Adults also like Tweety and you are bound to come across someone who is fond of the little guy. So be prepared with some Tweety party goods and a line up of great Tweety party recipes.
A party menu themed after this cartoon character is fairly easy to create if you know anything about Loony Toons. Try starting off with an appetizer playfully called, ‘I Thought I Saw a Putty Tat Drumsticks’ implying that for once Tweety wasn’t quick enough or smart enough to get away and ending up being roasted at his own party. Anything yellow makes for a good food item at a Tweety bird party and you can supplement the drumsticks with some Birdseed Cheese Ball and Crackers. Make up your own Sylvester’s’ Forced Vegetarian Salsa and Chips for a healthier treat for the guests and serve up Yellow Tweety Punch made up with a lemon-lime soda, orange juice and some lemon juice which with everyone can wash down their food. Don’t forget a lemon Tweety birthday cake if this is for a birthday party.
A Birdseed Cheese Ball is easy to make up for the Tweety Party. All you need for it are; 8 ounces of cream cheese, 8 ounces of sharp cheddar, a dash of worchestshire sauce, dash of salt and pepper, a pinch of cayenne pepper, onion and garlic and a bag of sesame seeds or shelled sunflower seeds. Mix together softened cream cheese, cheddar, salt, pepper, cayenne, chopped onion, a very small amount of crushed garlic, and about three tablespoons of worchestshire. You can mix this up in the blender or food processor if you prefer. Put the mixture in the fridge to cool and solidify. After an hour or so remove and quickly shape into a ball with your hands. Then roll the ball on a plate of sesame seeds or sunflower seeds until it’s fully coated. Place the ball in the fridge over night. Serve chilled with crackers for the party.
The guests will love your inventive menu ideas for this Tweety party. You’ll be surprised if you don’t run out of food or end up with guests clambering for leftovers to take home. By just adding even one simple food item to the menu will help create
a complete Tweety theme party feeling. |
