The party host can kick things off by discussing the long history and special characteristics of this special little bird; Tweety is a classic Warner Brothers character who takes the form of an adorable gold canary, one who counts as his main rival and sparring partner a black cat named Sylvester. Tweety’s signature catch phrase, in fact, is “I Tought I Saw a Puddy Tat! I did, I did!” in reference to wily ol’ Sylvester.
Tweety Pie is the full name of this character, whose mannerisms were originally based on those of the famous comedian Red Skelton. Making his grand debut in 1942, he appeared in 48 cartoons during the golden age of Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies animated classics. Originally and amazingly named Orson, Tweety was created by animator Bob Clampett and debuted in the cartoon “A Tale of Two Kitties”; in which he faced off, not against Sylvester, but against two very familiar looking cats named Babbit and Catstello.
