Veterans Day COOKIES

Veterans Day is a day to honor our soldiers and, what better way to do than a tasty homemade cookie. Especially in today’s world of Veterans deserve thanks for what they do and, if a soldier is stationed in Iraq then, they will truly love these cookies as it will provide them with a taste of home.

To begin creating these homemade cookies start with basic sugar cookie dough. Allow the cookies to bake and cool then one can begin to decorate. One great idea would be to decorate each cookie with an American Flag. To achieve this, take a piping bag and black frosting and create an outline of a flag in the middle of the cookie. Next, take red, white, and blue frosting and place them into 3 separate piping bags and create lines of each onto the cookie. For the stars of the bag one can use decorating stars.

Another great decorating idea for these great homemade cookies would be to frost them in the color of the unit in which the soldier is serving. For the Army for example frost each cookie green. One can also place the name of the soldier that they are remembering onto the cookie as well by using white frosting and a piping bag.

These are just two of the great ideas one can choose to make unique homemade cookies for Veterans Day. If these are planning on being sent over to family members overseas have the children color some creative color sheets as well to include into the care package.
