educational twist.
November 11th marks the end of World War I, and Veteran’s Day. Veteran’s Day is a time where we honor the men and women that are currently or have previously served in any branch of the United States military. With a Veteran’s Day Education Party, you can teach your children about respect, compassion, the government, global relations, appreciation, and many other topics. If you know a veteran, invite them to the party to share their experiences (the ones that are not traumatic of course) with the children. Teach them about the branches of military, and the jobs that these veterans have done in order to keep them safe, and free. Show them what the veterans have sacrificed by having served in our military. Make thank you cards for veterans and deliver them to the local area veterans. Think about the veterans that are serving now, and prepare a care package or two for them. Write letters send pictures, anything you can think of to let the veterans know we appreciate them, and want them to feel at home. Decorate your own United States flag, and create a wreath of red, white, and blue stars to hang on your door. Ask the children their thoughts about the military, and see if they want to serve their country. Use this holiday to teach children anything you may have missed on July 4th, or review things like the national anthem. Enjoy food, drink, family, and freedom on this day together, and thank the servicemen and women who give you the right to do so while you celebrate with the education party. |
