Winnie the Pooh is a classic children’s character who wins new fans with every generation. Plan the ultimate Winnie the Pooh trivia talk party today!
No Winnie the Pooh party would be complete without some light but informative talk about the history of this adorable bear. Character creator A.A. Milne named Winnie-the-Pooh after a teddy bear that was owned by his son, Christopher Robin Milne; and it’s probably no surprise that Pooh’s best human friend in his fictional adventures is named none other than Christopher Robin. Christopher Robin's famous toy now stands on permanent display at the New York Public Library.
Milne wrote his first collection of short stories about the bear and all his friends in Ashdown Forest, like Tigger, Christopher Robin, Kanga and Roo, in the book Winnie-the-Pooh (1926), which was illustrated by E.H. Shepard. The Walt Disney Company later produced a series of Pooh movies, the most recent of which was released earlier this summer; the character also has inspired television specials, video games and even a song (“Return to Pooh Corner” by Kenny Loggins). Actors who have voiced the role of Pooh include Sterling Holloway, Hal Smith and Jim Cummings (who voiced both Pooh and Tigger in this year’s film).
Winnie the Pooh also has inspired a full merchandise collection, including miniature Winnie the Pooh stuffed and plastic dolls, stickers, spinning tops, play sets that boast miniatures of Pooh and all his friends, miniature candied honey pots, blow outs, bookmarks, storybooks, and themed school supplies like pens, pencils and notebooks. Be sure to ask guests how many of these items they have in their own Pooh collections!
Everyone loves “Winnie the Pooh;” and kids of all ages would enjoy the ultimate Pooh talk trivia party.
